Working Full Time And Going To Nursing School Part Time (asn At A Community College)??????????????????????

This Question From Part Time Nursing Schools | 2 Answers

QUESTION:

I plan on working 30-45 ours per week. I am going to go to my local community college to get my associates in Nursing to become an RN. How long do you think the program will take. I heard that if you do full time school with general education requirements being taken at the same time it can take 2 1/2 years (6 semesters with one being summer hence 2 1/2 years not 3). I will spend 1 year doing general ed then the next school year sign up for the nursing school part time. so how long will the Nursing requirements take to complete (years or semesters pls)?

Maybe while doing the pre-reqs. But very very hard once in the core nursing program. Look at the school catalog you want to attend–when are those nursing classes held–what days & what hours. Some schools do not allow part time core attendance. Also, part time is going to take you far longer than 2.5 years, as some of those classes are sequential & not offered every semester. I strongly advise setting an appointment up with the nursing adviser & going over things.

I am doing the same thing. You can get all of your classes in on Tuesday and Thursday and then work the other 5 days a week. That’s what I am doing. It gives you plenty of time to do homework. When you get to the core nursing classes, it’s going to be harder to work. A lot harder. They told me to expect to have to study 3 hours for every one hour of class time. It’s going to take me 6 semesters all together.
