What’s Your Job Like As A Nurse?

Hello,
I am an 11th grade high school student in Alberta, Canada, with interest in going into medicine, specifically either to become a General Practitioner, Nurse, or Sonographer. I would like to ask about Nursing.
My marks at the moment are high enough to go into a faculty of Nursing at any of the universities that I am choosing from; however I would like to ask all of you nurses out there to describe your own line of work.
My mother worked as a nurse for ten years, and said that it was one of the most rewarding experiences in her life. My father also has a profession in medicine as a Radiologist, and truly, it feels like I am following in their footsteps. My older brother is too; he’s in university right now taking Sciences. However, I wish to be confident that I am making my career choice for myself, not because my parents influenced me to do it.
So please, describe to me what your job is like, from all of the exciting to all of the mundane, what you had to pursue once you graduated from high school to become a nurse, and what you have learned as a nurse.
