What should I do about my parents opinions?

This Question From South Dakota Nursing Schools | The Question Has 15 Answers

Im due July 10th. My boyfriend is currently on a deployment, and I moved to South Dakota to be with him. Which is fine, but since he left, I had no family up there, so I moved to Florida for the duration of his deployment with my parents (so I was close to my family.)

My parents have myself, and my three brothers as children. They believe in all of this radical unschooling/homeschooling stuff. As well as having the child sleep in the bed with them. Which is fine, thats what works for them. I dont want to raise my daughter like this, She will go to a normal school, and sleep in her own bed. (My last brother that co-slept stayed in my parents bed till after he turned 6. Thats not okay with me as far as my child.)

I agree with not letting my daughter cry in her bed, because really, if shes that young, she’s probably crying cause she genuinely needs something. Therefore Im not doing the cry it out method.

My step-dad seems to look down on the fact that my baby will sleep in her own bed except when nursing and whatnot. He thinks its “wrong.”

My question is, what do I do when they try to push me or override my decisions about MY child?
Excuse me, I did live in my own home. I moved to my parents home to have familial support. I dont need a damn piece of paper to tell me that I love my boyfriend. I could very easily move out. I do express my opinions. They just try to constantly run me over. before you judge, get the facts.
I could just as easily move out. I know I was responsible enough to get pregnant. Thats obviously how Im here. If I was absolutely not ready for a child, I would have not had sex. Unlike most of the girls on here, I am in fact mature enough to realize that. That is why I never once had sex till I knew for a fact that I could raise a child if it happened.
And also, just so its clear… I didnt move back in because we broke up or anything. I moved in because he is on a 13 month deployment in Afghanistan. I could have stayed in my house where I was. But I had no family there but him.
“thehonestlady”. I am somehow the blacksheep of my family. Im the opinionated one. And yes, you’re right. My parents didnt cut the apron strings. As much as they say they did, theyre wrong. They are still having a heart attack over the fact that I joined the Army and moved out at 17. And its not that I dont tell them what I think, Its more that they keep pushing their opinons and it gets tiring after awhile.
