What Are My Rights As A Caregiver To My Elderly Mother In South Carolina?

This Question From South Carolina Nursing Schools | The Question Has 2 Answers

I am a caregiver and Medical Power Of Attorney for my 77 year old mother who rents a house in South Carolina. My mother has Diabetes, Heart Failure, Artificial Heart Valve, Pace Maker and Thyroid Problems. The Diabetes is causing her blood sugar to crash alot and also spike up real high sometimes. When her sugar gets out of control, she usually becomes confused. My sister from Virginia came down to help me out with mom for a few weeks and my mom’s landlord wants my sister to leave. The landlord also told me that I need to leave and that my mom doesn’t need anyone staying with her to help. Mom’s Doctor’s and Home Health Nurse’s say that she does and that I’m doing a very good job, but if mom is left by herself she’ll have to go to a nursing home. I quit my job and now sell computers out of my mom’s house for income. Mom’s landlord is constantly trying to boss us around. Since my sister is here to help, on Saturday night I had a couple beers and watched a replay of the local high school football game. My landlord jumped on me and told me that there will be no more drinking on this property any more. My sister was watching my mom while I took a much needed break. I’m of legal drinking age, beer is legal and I was drinking alone. I never have friends come over, only customers who come to buy computers. Can you tell me what my rights are and if the landlord has the right to intervene in my mother’s care?
