Tetanus Shot Per State..?

Does the requirements for a tetanus shot vary state to state? I grew up in Ohio and only received a tetanus shot when I was about 5 years old. Now that im in college in South Dakota and my nurse is saying I should have received a tetanus shot during high school. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if a tetanus shot per state varies..thanks
