I am a Democrat. One thing that has upset me about the Republican party is their apparent lack of support for social programs. I know a lot of people with severe disabilities who depend on government programs to live. Otherwise, most would be on the street because they really can’t hold down a job. I’m sure many Republicans have parents or grandparents who are nearing bankruptcy paying for their meds (can be HUNDREDS a month, plus copays and insurance. ) but their parents/grandparents are too embarrassed to say anything, and keep charging their meds on the credit cards. I remember Newt Gingrich kept the Democrat party hostage on a bill they wanted passed by refusing to approve funding for people in nursing homes. Tim Pawlenty, our Republican governer in Minnesota, didn’t want food stamps to pay for junk food, forgetting that many of the people getting food stamps are disabled or too old to work, and can’t help they’re poor.
