Nursing School Problem?
This Question From Michigan Nursing Schools | The Question Has 1 Answer
Okay. My problem is that I began a nursing program at the local community college in my area. I stuck it out for a semester and a half, passing Foundations, Med-Surg I, and OB Clinical. However, the school as a whole was so degrading, embarrassing, and disorganized (moldy ceilings, teachers from the ghetto who don’t speak “English”, broken cement, graffiti, etc.) — especially within the nursing department, that I just left the school towards the end of the second semester. It was past the official withdrawal date, so I was left with two E’s in the courses I was registered for (Pharmacology and OB lecture).
My way of thinking was that I already had transcripts from another community college (which I graduated from with a 3.9 GPA and lots of Honors), as well as from NYU, where I’ve attended classes in the summer since graduating high school, with a 3.6 GPA. I even had an overall GPA of 3.1 from this crappy school. I thought I would just apply to another nursing program in a good school, and keep going.
Not. No other school in Michigan will look at me without a letter of Good Standing from this school. It’s been two years now, and I NEED to continue with my education. For this fall (2009), I have been accepted to two out-of-state schools that I applied for on a whim. But I really don’t want to go out of state just to go to school. I am all but accepted to the University of Detroit Mercy; I just need that letter.
My question is, how can I get them to give me that letter? They’re so ignorant, they won’t even remember what I looked like. But it is a fact that there are two E’s on my file. However, I didn’t kill a patient, administer the wrong meds, fail to show up at clinical, etc. What kind of story can I make up as to why I didn’t finish?
Please help — I’m tired of waiting to start my future.
