Nursing School In One State, Nclex In Another State?

I plan on starting an accelerated ASN program in the fall, and will finish next summer in Louisiana. But I want to start my nursing career in another state. Is it possible to graduate from the program and then take the exam in the state of my choice, or do I take the exam before I graduate, and then go through the issues of getting my license in the state of my choice?
