There is no specific college for L& D nursing–you become a general RN & specialize with training on the job. There are a number of nursing options in Cal; they have a pretty long wait list (300 applications for 50 slots)–so get going now. There is the community college system, the University of Cal systen (ie UCLA) and the Cal State system. Cal State Long Beach has a good program. Depends on where you live….The associates RN (community college) takes 2 years plus pre-reqs. The bachelor’s RN takes 4 years. After you graduate you take the NCLEX exam and then you are an RN!
