Is Getting A Bsn Worth The 100k To Get It?
This Question From Maryland Nursing Schools | 1 Answer
QUESTION:
I do not really plan on staying in actual hands-on bedside care for too long. I would much rather move into a management position after a few years or so…and perhaps even go for a higher degree. But as far as pay goes, the only programs available to me would cost me around 80-100k in student loans. That is if I live on campus and not at home. I am not too sure how much nurses are paid, and I live in Maryland. However, I would like to be able to pay off my student loans within five years or so. I can live in a small apartment.
Thanks for any input

Really?!?!? A $100k? What type of university are you plan on attending? If you go to a public university U of certain state then it would be a whole lot cheaper in the long run. I have always wanted to become a nurse, but instead ended up to become an elementary school teacher. I know that nurses are making SO much more money than teachers and the student loans that you would racked will be pay back in ten-fold. I am happy that you are considering a BSN I wish I have that tenacity and the excitement for the sciences, but I am more of an arts kind of a guy. I graduated from college about 20K in student loans and the payments are really reasonable for me. I am currently working on my master’s in elementary administration so like you I can work from a management standpoint. I also have the benefit of teaching in the area where the student loan corporation would cancel portions of my loan for every year that I teach. You may also would like to find out if there are student loans where you can get portions of them cancel if you agree to work at a certain critical needs hospital.
