The overall average salary for a pharm tech is about $13 per hour. Most certified techs will start in the $10-$11 per hour range. Right now, the market is very tough for techs. Almost all of them have experienced a significant drop in hours.
Since you are in nursing school, being a CNA is more impressive in terms of resume building.

CNA would be valuable to you in that you will gain experience useful to you as a nurse. But the starting pay for CNA’s are about $8-9 per hour. You would have to be in a job for about 4 years to rise to $12.00. So becomming a CNA depends on what’s more important, the 12 bucks an hour or the experience. The Pharmacy Tech is a sure $12.00 per hour, maybe more. And probably give you experience for the nursing field also. So, if it’s money, than Pharmacy Tech is the way to go. Good Luck.

CNA, you’re planning to become a Nurse. This will give you helpful experience such as dealing with patients, beside manner, etc. Pharmacy Tech would be good if you are in pharmacy school.
