I live in Virginia, was working in a doctor’s office for 4 wks. Everything was going well. I was also taking classes for a 2nd degree in nursing. I was never late, never made big mistakes, corrected my small mistakes, asked for help, was extremely focused and did not participate in the office gossip, which was rampant. Then 2 things happened: 1, on a weekend, I came to work and could not unlock the door, neither could the on-duty nurse, nor the doctor. I had called my supervisor two days before asking her how I was to get in on that day and who would have a key and what time to be there prior to opening. She said the nurse would have a key. The nurse did not have a key. The doctors were all very upset about the key. I told them what happened but did not make a big deal about it. 2) The next day, the supervisor fired me. She says I had made “malicious” comments about her and was “running my mouth.” This never happened at all. I feel so screwed. Can she do this without a meeting?
