Can i get into nursing school with 2 misdemenors, one shoplifting, one disorderly conduct?

I am taking a nurse aide class to get into nursing school and am very embarassed and paranoid about looking for a job with two charges, because anyone looks down on that. What about LPNs or nurse aides? Also does anyone know if the state of North Carolina would let me take the licensing exam anyway? The charges are four years old.
