A Question For Labor And Delivery Nurses Or Nursery Nurses?

This Question From Nebraska Nursing Schools | The Question Has 1 Answer

So I’ve been very interested in becoming a nurse, and I’ve been trying to get all the information I can get my hands on! The internet isn’t always the best place though, so I was hoping that I could hear from some actually L/D or Nursery nurses!
I love babies, and so I would want to become an RN then specialize in one of these fields.
I’m a Junior in high school, so I really need to get on this, and I want to know what special classes I should take as a senior, and any really good volunteering I can do to get “ahead of the competition” ! :]
At the moment, I’m taking an Anatomy/Physiology class, and a Child Development class. I thought both of these would be really good to take if I want to become a nurse, plus the Anatomy class is a college level class, unfortunately for some odd reason my school only says it is, but it won’t count as college credits. :/
I know this is long..but I would just love to hear about what you do everyday, your pay [if you don't mind sharing...otherwise it's fine!] and where you went to school/what classes you took..what’s the best nursing college for these two areas? and where is the best hospital to work at for the best pay? I assume hospitals in NY and California are the highest paying, but I live in Nebraska..so that’s pretty far from home. :]
Any other information you can give me on these two areas..I’d love! Just a detailed list of what you do day to day, what you like about your job, what you don’t like, and all those things I mentioned before too. Thanks so much!
